VIII TUROV EPARCHIAL EDUCATIONAL READINGS “1030 ANNIVERSARY ORTHODOX CHRISTIANITY ON THE BELARUSIAN LANDS”

photoVIII Turov Eparchial Readings “1030 Anniversary Orthodox Christianity on the Belarusian lands” were held on October 29, 2021. More than 200 participants from various establishments of Higher and Secondary education from all the regions of Belarus took part in the readings. The plenary meeting was arranged online.

Tatsiana Symanovich, the Dean of Philology Department, PhD in History, started the meeting. She paid much attention to the importance of this event for all the communities i.e. scientific community, clergy, teachers and students. The cooperation within this project is fruitful for all the participants, because it gives many benefits for further education and upbringing of the younger generations.

Akvsenty the Hegumen, the head of the monastery in Yurovichi Village (Kalinkovichi district) presented his report. The following reports were presented: “Reduction of the semantic content of labor in modern society” (S.A. Yuris, PhD in History, Associate professor, Head of the Pre-University Department, Pavel Sukhoi Gomel State Technical University); “Belarusian Orthodox Church and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus” (V.M. Smolsky, a History teacher, Secondary school № 2 in Khoiniki), “Instilling spiritual values by studying the history of Christianity and creating models of Orthodox churches” (N.I.Kovaleva, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs, Gomel State Professional and Technical College of Arts and Crafts), “Cooperation between the Church and the State in the Civil-Patriotic Education of Youth: the main directions” (T.N. Symanovich, PhD in History). MSPU teachers and students participated in the discussion.

There were 6 working sections:

1. Interaction between the Church and the State: historical experience, main directions and prospects.

2. Spiritual-moral and civil-patriotic education at schools and universities.

3. Historical memory as a factor to consolidate the society.

4. Christian values in the modern educational process.

5. Social service of the Church.

6. Cultural and historical heritage of the Belarusian people: dialogue of generations.
